UoG holds peace walk to promote unity,tolerance

GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) The Department of Sociology at the University of Gujrat (UoG) on Wednesday organized a campus awareness walk titled “Promoting Peace and Unity” to highlight the importance of social harmony,tolerance and collective responsibility among students,faculty and staff.

The activity was held under the ongoing awareness campaign of the Punjab Center of Excellence on Countering Violent Extremism,in line with its Action Plan for March–May 2026.

Participants carried placards inscribed with messages promoting peace,unity and resilience against extremist ideologies.

The event highlighted the role of educational institutions in promoting peace and countering violent extremism through dialogue,awareness and community engagement.

The walk concluded with a call to promote inclusive values and responsible citizenship in society.

Chairperson Department of Psychology,Prof Dr.Bushra Akram and Chairperson Department of Sociology Dr.Muhammad Shoaib appreciated the participation of students.

Assistant Professor Dr.Zaheer Abbas and other faculty members supervised the event and ensured its smooth conduct.
