Punjab Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the Punjab government is taking serious and effective steps to ensure lasting peace across the province

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Punjab Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the Punjab government is taking serious and effective steps to ensure lasting peace across the province.

He expressed these views while addressing a delegation of Muttahida Jamiat Ahle Hadith Pakistan during a meeting with scholars held in the Home Department. The meeting discussed the overall law and order situation as well as the promotion of inter-Muslim unity.

The minister said that the Punjab government is actively promoting inter-faith harmony and inter-Muslim unity across the province. He added that religious scholars play a vital role in promoting peace, tolerance and brotherhood in society, and the government highly values their contribution.

He further said that all possible measures are being taken for the establishment and maintenance of peace in the province.

On the occasion, President Muttahida Jamiat Ahle Hadith Pakistan Dr. Allama Ziaullah Shah Bukhari welcomed the efforts of the Punjab government for promoting inter-Muslim unity.

He said that resolving issues through dialogue and mutual consultation is the only guarantee of social stability.

At the end of the meeting, prayers were offered for the progress, peace, and security of the country and the nation.

The delegation was led by Dr. Allama Syed Ziaullah Shah Bukhari. Parliamentary Secretary Syed Ziaullah Shah, former Secretary Auqaf Syed Tahir Raza Bukhari, DG Auqaf Hafiz Anisur Rehman, Additional Secretary Special Initiative Abdul Rauf, Dr. Ahmed Shahzad Khawar, SP Operations Mian Adil Rashid and other officials were also present.

Members of the delegation included Aamir Waseem Sindhu, Dr. Syed Osama Zia Bukhari, Allama Khalid Mahmood Farooqi, Allama Sikandar Hayat Zaki, Sheikh Muhammad Naeem Badshah, Saeed Ahmed, Maulana Mian Muhammad Ayub, Professor Ahsan Alam, Professor Khodhaima Bukhari, Professor Syed Habibullah Bukhari, Maulana Abdul Salam and Haji Zafar Javed, among others.
