FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) Punjab Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar has warned the transporters to avoid from overcharging in fares on Eid or be ready to face the music.
He visited Faisalabad and inspected the General Bus Stand where he personally boarded passenger buses to inquire from travelers about fare collection ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
During visit, the minister verified that transporters were charging fares according to the officially notified fare lists and delivered a clear message that there was no room for overcharging in passenger vehicles under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.
He directed the Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to take strict action against overcharging and overloading, warning that the route permits of vehicles involved in charging excessive fares should be cancelled immediately.
He also stressed the need to keep the transport control room fully operational during the Eid holidays and said that no passenger should face inconvenience or have complaints regarding overcharging.

He said that the inspection process would continue regularly to ensure maximum relief and better travel facilities for citizens during Eid travel rush.
Secretary District Regional Transport Authority Rashid Ali informed the provincial minister that strict implementation of the official fare lists was being ensured and that fare charts had been prominently displayed outside buses, wagons, and at transport stands.
He said that immediate action was being taken even on minor complaints, adding that excess fare amounts were being returned to passengers while legal and departmental action was also initiated against vehicle owners and drivers found violating transport regulations.
