Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) The Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) Dera Ismail Khan has unveiled a comprehensive sanitation and waste management strategy for Eid-ul-Azha to ensure cleanliness, public health, and efficient waste disposal across the district.
Chairman board of Directors (BOD) of WSSC DI Khan, Naimatullah Khan Gandapur, said while talking to APP, the company will establish effective communication channels with local authorities, community leaders, and residents to disseminate waste management guidelines and collection schedules ahead of the festival.
He said a detailed waste collection plan has been prepared in view of the expected surge in waste generation during Eid-ul-Azha. The plan includes additional collection rounds, adjusted frequency of waste pickup, and improved coordination with relevant departments to ensure timely disposal of sacrificial waste.
The chairman added that WSSC DI Khan will also deploy additional resources, including garbage bins, waste collection vehicles, cleaning supplies, and disinfectants.
He further stated that the company will distribute biodegradable bags among citizens to promote safe and environmentally friendly disposal of animal waste. Where necessary, rented machinery and additional manpower will also be arranged to strengthen operational capacity during the Eid period.
The sanitation plan includes intensified street cleaning operations across the city.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Special street sweeping teams and private labor will be deployed to ensure cleanliness in high-traffic areas before, during, and after Eid. Particular attention will be given to areas surrounding designated sacrificial animal slaughter points to prevent the spread of diseases and maintain hygiene standards.
He said debris removal teams will remain on alert to promptly clear animal waste, food residues, and other solid waste generated from sacrificial activities.
Coordination with local authorities and community volunteers will be ensured to maintain an effective and rapid response system.
As part of hygiene measures, lime or disinfectant powder will be applied around waste containers and affected areas to control odor and reduce health risks.
The chairman emphasized the importance of community participation, urging citizens, religious leaders, and local organizations to cooperate with sanitation teams. He encouraged participation in cleanliness drives, proper waste segregation, the use of biodegradable bags, and responsible disposal practices while discouraging unnecessary complaints.
He further stated that regular inspections and monitoring mechanisms will be implemented to evaluate sanitation operations throughout the Eid period, ensuring adherence to the plan and timely resolution of any emerging issues.
