1,584 kanals of encroached land retrieved

GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) The district administration retrieved 1,584 kanals of state land in Mouza Surkhpur that had allegedly remained under illegal occupation for nearly 50 years.

According to official sources, the allotment of the land had earlier been declared illegal by the High Court and the Supreme Court, after which the property was transferred through mutation in the name of the Government of Punjab.

Following the dismissal of the case by the Supreme Court, the deputy commissioner issued immediate orders for retrieval of the land.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Waqas Safdar Sikandari and Assistant Commissioner Gujrat Abdul Qadeer Zarkoon, along with revenue officials, PERA Force personnel and local police, supervised the operation at the site.

Officials also warned citizens against the purchase, sale or cultivation of the retrieved land.
