World Civil Defense Day to be marked with grand rally in Mirpur

Like the rest of the world, Azad Jammu and Kashmir will observe World Civil Defense Day on March 1 with a renewed pledge to remain prepared and vigilant in times of peace and emergency. In this regard, a large rally will be held in Mirpur on Saturday at 10:30 am

MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Feb, 2026) Like the rest of the world, Azad Jammu and Kashmir will observe World Civil Defense Day on March 1 with a renewed pledge to remain prepared and vigilant in times of peace and emergency. In this regard, a large rally will be held in Mirpur on Saturday at 10:30 am. The procession will start from the Civil Defense Office and conclude at the Municipal Corporation Hall, District Information Officer and spokesperson Javed Malik said on Friday.

Subsequently, a special ceremony will be organized at the Town Hall to honor the dedicated and courageous Civil Defense volunteers for their selfless services. Moreover, officials said the event aims to highlight the vital role of volunteers who consistently stand ready to assist the nation during natural disasters and other critical situations. The day will therefore serve as a meaningful reminder of the importance of preparedness and public awareness.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Warden Civil Defense Irfan Rashid stated that the observance is intended to effectively educate citizens about essential safety measures to protect lives and property.

However, he noted that the country continues to face serious challenges, including enemy-sponsored terrorism and related tragic incidents, which have severely impacted communities. Consequently, he emphasized that strengthening and activating civil defense mechanisms is urgently needed.

Furthermore, Irfan Rashid paid rich tribute to the committed volunteers and officials for their remarkable and tireless contributions. He described the youth volunteers as a valuable asset who bravely and readily serve the public in all weather conditions and at all times.

In conclusion, he invited the young generation of Mirpur to actively join civil defense efforts and properly equip themselves with professional training to respond confidently and responsibly in both peace and war.
