Tax-free Punjab budget to boost business confidence : Iftikhar Malik

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry former President Iftikhar Ali Malik on Tuesday congratulated Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on presenting a pro-poor, development-oriented and tax-free budget for the fiscal year 2026-27.

Reacting to the Punjab budget, he said its tax-free nature would ease the financial burden on common citizens and strengthen business confidence, particularly among small and medium enterprises (SMEs). He expressed the hope that transparent and efficient implementation of budgetary allocations would lead to tangible improvements in the quality of life of the people and serve as a model for other provinces.

Iftikhar Malik lauded the chief minister’s vision for uplifting underprivileged segments of society while simultaneously promoting development in key sectors, including infrastructure, health, education and agriculture.

He said the budget reflected the provincial government’s commitment to inclusive growth, social welfare and economic stability.

He particularly appreciated allocations for youth empowerment, skill development and women-focused initiatives, describing them as vital measures for ensuring sustainable economic progress and long-term prosperity.

He expressed confidence that the budget would help stimulate economic activity, create employment opportunities and contribute to the overall development of Punjab.
