LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore has accelerated its monsoon preparedness activities to ensure effective drainage arrangements across the city ahead of the rainy season.
WASA Vice Chairman Chaudhry Shehbaz Ahmed on Saturday visited the Multan Road Disposal Station to review operational readiness and drainage management measures.
WASA Deputy Managing Director Abdul Latif also accompanied him during the visit.
Director Maintenance Ahmed Hussain and Executive Engineer (Allama Iqbal Town) Faisal Sarwar briefed the Vice Chairman on the disposal station’s performance, cleanliness conditions and the functionality of pumping machinery.
Two 56 CFS pumps and two 25 CFS pumps were currently operational at the Multan Road Disposal station, while additional new pumps have also been installed to strengthen drainage capacity.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>WASA vice chairman expressed displeasure over the unsatisfactory cleanliness conditions at the site and directed the concerned staff to ensure immediate improvements and maintain strict cleanliness standards.
The vice chairman also conducted a detailed review of the pumping machinery and stressed that all disposal stations, drains and machinery across Lahore must remain fully operational before the onset of monsoon rains.
Chaudhry Shehbaz Ahmed stated, "No negligence in cleanliness, desilting, and drainage arrangements will be tolerated."
He directed all officers and field staff to remain on high alert and provide immediate relief to citizens during rainfall emergencies.
WASA Lahore reiterated its commitment to ensuring efficient drainage facilities and timely public relief during the upcoming monsoon season.
