RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Mar, 2026) Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has placed its operations on high alert in the twin cities ahead of expected heavy rainfall, Managing Director Azizullah Khan said.
WASA teams, along with heavy machinery, have been deployed in low-lying areas including Liaquat Bagh, Committee Chowk underpass, Murree Road, and Sadiqabad to prevent water accumulation and ensure smooth drainage.
Continuous monitoring is also underway at Nullah Lai, where water flow remains normal.
Emergency rain response teams have been mobilized to respond to any sudden flooding. Field officers are personally supervising drainage work under the MD’s direction to ensure swift action in vulnerable areas.
WASA has appealed to citizens to keep manhole and drain covers open, avoid dumping garbage, and report any emergencies immediately through the WASA helpline. In low-lying areas, teams are working round the clock to prevent waterlogging and minimize inconvenience caused by heavy rains.
