PSCA enhances Muharram security with real-time camera access for police LTE handsets

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has equipped the police force with modern digital gadgets and advanced surveillance technology to further strengthen security arrangements during Muharram.

According to spokesperson, new features had been introduced in PSCA’s advanced LTE Smart Communication System, enabling LTE handsets used by field personnel to function as a “Mobile Command and Control Center” during Muharram.

Police officers deployed in the field would be able to access real-time live feeds from Safe City cameras directly on their LTE handsets. Officers deployed at processions and Majalis would also remain updated about the live situation of other processions, congregations, and sensitive locations in their respective areas. Live surveillance feeds from Safe City and 4g cameras would also be available directly on LTE handsets.

The spokesperson further said that key updates and real-time alerts from the Muharram Procession Monitoring System would be received directly on officers’ LTE handsets. Critical information including flash points, procession routes, and head and tail positions under the Safe City digital surveillance model would also be available on these devices, enabling more effective command, control, and rapid response in the field.

The spokesperson added that secure Safe City LTE network would ensure uninterrupted communication among police officers even in the event of disruptions to conventional mobile signals. In emergency situations, officers would be able to use video calls, live chat, and instant communication facilities through a single LTE handset, ensuring seamless coordination between districts and control rooms.

The spokesperson said, PSCA’s indigenous digital solutions were ensuring effective command, control, and swift response during Muharram. Under the “Safe Punjab” vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the police force was being equipped with modern digital technologies, while advanced LTE technology, smart surveillance, and digital monitoring were making Muharram security more efficient and effective. The spokesperson further said that during Muharram, PSCA’s advanced LTE communication system would serve as an effective mobile command and control platform for the police force, ensuring the safety of mourners, maintaining law and order, and enabling prompt and effective response to any emergency situation.
