LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2026) Convener of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Regional Committee on food Shahid Imran on Sunday urged Pakistan’s private sector to draw lessons from Türkiye’s successful integration of defence industries with private manufacturing to accelerate technological innovation, strengthen industrial capacity and boost exports.

Talking to a delegation of traders here, he said Pakistan and Türkiye had set a target of increasing bilateral trade from $1 billion to $5 billion within the next three years, which would require active participation of the private sector and the removal of trade barriers.

He said Türkiye’s internationally competitive construction companies could partner with Pakistani firms to undertake reconstruction projects in Iran, creating new business opportunities for both countries.

Shahid Imran said the greatest potential, however, lay in attracting Turkish manufacturing investment.

He noted that leading Turkish conglomerates, including Koç Holding, Sabanci Holding and Anadolu Group, enjoy extensive access to European markets and could relocate part of their labour-intensive production of consumer electronics, household appliances and engineering goods to Pakistan.

Such investment, he said, would enable Turkish companies to benefit from Pakistan’s competitive production costs while generating employment, increasing exports and facilitating technology transfer in the country.

He added that Pakistan was also well positioned to attract greater international investment, citing the country’s global goodwill for its role in reducing regional tensions and supporting diplomatic efforts for peace. He expressed confidence that stronger Pakistan-Türkiye economic cooperation would contribute to sustainable industrial growth and regional prosperity.
