2,000 litres of water-adulterated milk destroyed

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2026) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) discarded 2,000 litres of adulterated milk and imposed fines totaling Rs270,000 on the owners of 13 milk transport vehicles during an inspection at the Motorway Toll Plaza.

According to PFA spokesperson, food safety teams set up a checkpoint at the toll plaza and inspected 29 milk-carrying vehicles. Around 25,000 litres of milk were tested using modern food safety equipment to ensure compliance with quality standards.

During the inspection, 2,000 litres of milk were found to be adulterated with water and declared unfit for human consumption. The contaminated milk was disposed of on the spot to prevent it from reaching consumers.

PFA spokesperson said that the adulterated milk was being transported from Jhang to Rawalpindi and Islamabad for distribution. He said legal action was taken against the owners of 13 milk transport vehicles, who were collectively fined Rs270,000 for violating food safety regulations.

He said the PFA conducts daily inspections of milk transport vehicles to ensure the supply of safe and quality food to consumers, discourage food adulteration and protect public health.

He urged citizens to report complaints regarding adulterated or substandard food, particularly milk, through the PFA's helpline 1223, enabling authorities to take prompt legal action against those responsible.
