FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jul, 2026) Travel industry experts urged travel agents to proactively prepare for the expected
new IATA guarantee policy and said that timely awareness, professional readiness and
effective insurance guidance would enable the sector to meet future business challenges,
strengthen financial compliance and deliver services in line with evolving international standards.
They expressed these views at an awareness workshop organized by the International Tourism Standing Committee of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) in collaboration with Security General Insurance Pakistan (SGI).
The workshop, held at the FCCI complex drew a large number of members of Faisalabad's travel trade community, while the experts comprehensively explained various aspects of the anticipated IATA guarantee policy, its likely implications and the business requirements associated with its implementation.
The participants were briefed on the evolving global regulatory environment and the importance of aligning local travel businesses with international practices to ensure sustainable growth and competitiveness.
Senior Vice Chairman of Travel Agents Association of Pakistan (TAAP) Muhammad Ilyas along with Agha Tariq Siraj and Hassan Masood from Lahore attended the session as special guests.
Speaking on the occasion, they highlighted the challenges confronting the travel industry, emerging international trends, new business opportunities and future requirements.
They stressed that continuous professional development and awareness of changing global standards had become indispensable for travel agents operating in an increasingly competitive international market.

He elaborated on the role of insurance companies, available facilities, operational procedures and practical aspects of the guarantee system, saying that an effective insurance framework could provide greater confidence and operational convenience to travel agents once the new policy comes into effect.
Later, SGI Chief Executive Officer Farrukh Aleem responded to a wide range of questions raised by the participants and provided them detailed explanations regarding the proposed guarantee framework and related insurance procedures.
The participants appreciated the comprehensive briefing and observed that the interactive session had significantly enhanced their understanding of the practical requirements and business implications of the expected IATA policy.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman FCCI International Tourism Standing Committee Nadeem Iqbal said that the chamber is committed to provide the business community timely information, exposure to emerging global business trends and access to new opportunities through an effective institutional platform.
Such awareness programs played a vital role in enhancing the professional capacity of the travel industry, promoting business growth and enabling local enterprises to remain aligned with international standards, he added.
