A large number of shopkeepers gathered in the city's E-Block area, expressing concern over what they described as increasing burglary incidents and the failure to apprehend those responsible.

The protesters said that amid challenging economic conditions, even minor financial losses placed a heavy burden on businesses. They urged police to take swift action to protect lives and property and restore public confidence in security.

The demonstration was joined by Pakistan Peoples Party city president Shahid Mubeen Bhatti, Usman Jameel Bhatti, Malik Muhammad Siddique Awan, labour leader Hafiz Muhammad Usman and other members of the business community.

Addressing the gathering, Hafiz Muhammad Usman said the traders' demands were the immediate arrest of the suspects, recovery of the stolen goods and the implementation of effective measures to prevent similar crimes in the future.

He warned that the business community would expand its protest if no progress was made.

City Station House Officer Mazhar Fareed later arrived at the protest site and held talks with trader representatives. He assured them that police were actively pursuing the group allegedly involved in the recent burglaries and said the suspects would be arrested within one week.

Following the assurance, trader leaders agreed to suspend the protest for one week. They said they expected police to fulfill their commitment by arresting the suspects and recovering the stolen property within the promised timeframe, warning that broader protests would follow if no action was taken.
