Top farmers in wheat production competition 2025-26 honored

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2026) The district administration on Monday distributed prize cheques to farmers for achieving the highest yields in the Wheat Production Competition 2025-26, recognizing their contributions to boosting agricultural productivity.

Deputy Commissioner (DC), Ayesha Rizwan, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Revenue, Muhammad Ahmar Ali and the Deputy Director of Agriculture (Extension), presented the awards to the farmers who secured the top three positions in the competition.

Speaking at the ceremony, the DC congratulated the winning farmers and emphasized the importance of agriculture to country’s economy. She said increasing wheat production per acre was essential to meeting the country’s food and economic needs.

“The agricultural sector is the backbone of the country’s economy, and increasing wheat yields is the need of the hour,” she said, adding that the Punjab government was promoting modern farming practices and supporting growers through farmer-friendly policies.

The Deputy Director , Agriculture (Extension) said the competition was designed to encourage farmers to achieve higher crop yields, adopt modern agricultural technologies and share best farming practices.

He noted that such initiatives foster healthy competition among the farmers and contribute to increased agricultural production.

The deputy commissioner distributed prize cheques to the successful participants and expressed hope that other farmers would follow modern agricultural recommendations to improve productivity.

She also directed the Agriculture Department to strengthen guidance and technical support services for the farmers to help advance agricultural development goals in the district.
