Seminar on preventing child marriages

MUZAFFARGARH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2026) In line with the Punjab government’s directive to curb child marriages, an awareness seminar

was held at Tehsil Chowk Sarwar Shaheed.

According to union council sources, the event took place in Union Council No. 33, Azizabad, Kot Addu. It was attended by secretaries of union councils across the tehsil and local marriage registrars (Nikah Khwans).

During the seminar, speakers provided detailed guidance on the Punjab Child Restraint Marriage Ordinance 2026, explaining relevant laws, prescribed penalties, and the responsibilities of officials involved in marriage registration.

Speakers emphasized that child marriages are a significant social issue, and strict enforcement of the law is essential to combat this practice. They highlighted the adverse impacts of early marriages on individuals and society at large.
