ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jul, 2026) As part of the Supreme Court of Pakistan's ongoing engagement in international judicial cooperation and knowledge exchange, Justice Ayesha A. Malik, Judge, SCP, participated in the International Judicial Workshop and Training Programme on "Judicial Services for Green and Low-Carbon Transition and Development", held in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China.
The five-day programme, organized by the Supreme People's Court of China, brought together judges and judicial experts from various jurisdictions to exchange knowledge and best practices on emerging developments in climate litigation and the judiciary's role in advancing sustainable development.
During the workshop, Justice Malik delivered a keynote address and a presentation on climate litigation in Pakistan, focusing on Pakistan’s evolving climate jurisprudence, rights-based approaches to climate governance, institutional accountability and emerging trends in climate adjudication.
Importance of incorporating gender-sensitive perspectives within climate responses and judicial decision-making was also addressed in the discourse.

Justice Malik’s insights were warmly received, which generated substantive discussion among the participating judges and judicial experts, reflecting international interest in Pakistan's growing body of climate jurisprudence and its contribution to contemporary discourse on climate governance, environmental accountability, and access to climate justice.
The participation of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the programme reflects the judiciary's continued commitment to international judicial cooperation, knowledge exchange, and strengthening institutional capacity in addressing emerging legal challenges arising from climate change.
