PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jul, 2026) Tremors from an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale were felt in several cities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wednesday evening, causing panic among residents.
The earthquake was felt in Peshawar, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Lower Dir and surrounding localities, also experienced the tremors.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>According to seismic monitoring authorities, the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 174 kilometres, with its epicentre located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
Deep earthquakes originating in the Hindu Kush are frequently felt across northern parts of Pakistan due to regional geological conditions.
No immediate reports of casualties or property damage were received following the tremors, while authorities continued to monitor the situation.
