Saudi ministry activates award-winning smart system for Hajj emergency management

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has activated its emergency and crisis operations center for the Hajj 1447 AH season through the award-winning “Emerge” smart platform to monitor field operations and manage emergency situations across the holy sites.

According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the “Emerge” system is internationally recognized among the world’s top three smart city emergency management platforms.

The report said the digital platform operates through a fully automated system that manages incidents from the initial alert stage until complete recovery and resolution.

Authorities said the emergency center is maintaining real-time operational coordination between municipalities in Makkah and Madinah during the Hajj season.

The system also monitors field-center readiness, manages vehicle and equipment inventories and oversees round-the-clock operational shifts to ensure rapid emergency response.

SPA told APP that the smart platform is helping improve crisis management efficiency and strengthen field coordination during the movement of millions of pilgrims across the holy sites.

Officials added that the initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s continued use of advanced digital technologies and smart-city solutions to support safer and more organized Hajj operations.
