Rs 493,000 fine on shopkeepers

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) Price control magistrates imposed fine Rs 493,000 on shopkeepers for violation price control list.

According to an official press release issued by the district administration, 12 shops were sealed and 18 individuals were arrested during recent enforcement actions. Additionally, fines totaling Rs. 493,000 were imposed on 270 profiteers.

It said that campaign against profiteering was underway across the district during the holy month of Ramadan and besides continuing vigorous operations to curb overpricing.

“Price control magistrates conducted a total of 3,940 inspections across the district to ensure compliance with officially notified price lists and the availability of essential commodities at fixed rates,” the press release said, adding that the operations were carried out in various areas including Bahawalpur City, Sadr, Ahmadpur East, Yazman, Hasilpur, and Khairpur Tamewali, where administrative officers inspected markets, fruit and vegetable bazaars, grocery stores, and other shops.
