Cabinet Committee approves security equipment purchase for DG Khan tri-border area

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) The 55th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order was held at the Punjab Home Department on Tuesday, where participants reviewed the overall law and order situation across the province and approved a series of security and administrative measures.

The meeting was chaired by Provincial Minister and Committee Chairman Khawaja Salman Rafique and attended by Co-Chairman Bilal Yasin, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Rana Bilal Ahmad and other relevant officials. Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain participated via video link.

Punjab Home Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi briefed the committee on the latest law and order situation, security arrangements and various administrative matters across the province.

The committee approved the procurement of modern equipment to further strengthen security arrangements in the Dera Ghazi Khan tri-border area. It also approved the purchase of modern equipment worth more than Rs80 million for Rescue 1122.

The meeting approved the formation of Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) for 11 different cases and granted approval for prosecution and submission of court challans in 14 separate cases. The committee also approved the de-notification of 28 price control magistrates in various districts and the notification of one new price control magistrate.

Speaking on the occasion, Salman Rafique said the committee had conducted a detailed review of the law and order situation throughout Punjab. He said Pakistan had earned respect and recognition at the international level through its role in diplomatic engagements and negotiations.

He paid tribute to the personnel of the Pakistan Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies and Punjab Police who had sacrificed their lives for the maintenance of peace, adding that the overall law and order situation in the province was satisfactory and the protection of citizens' lives and property remained the state's top priority.

Bilal Yasin said the recent developments were a matter of pride in Pakistan's history and had helped project a positive image of the country internationally. He added that all relevant departments were continuously working to ensure effective security arrangements.

Chaudhry Shafay expressed the hope that Pakistan would continue to achieve further progress and recognition, while appreciating the efforts of all institutions working for peace and stability.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Rana Bilal Ahmad stressed the need for strict implementation of the Punjab Home Department's guidelines to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram. He said all segments of society and schools of thought must work together to maintain peace and harmony.

Dr Ahmad said all available resources were being utilised to maintain law and order across Punjab, adding that the protection of citizens' lives and property remained the Punjab government's foremost priority.

Senior officials, including Special Secretary Home Faisal Farid, Additional IG Imran, DIG CTD, additional secretaries of Internal Security, judicial and police wings, Punjab director Civil Defence and other officials attended the meeting. Additional chief secretary South Punjab, additional IG South Punjab, commissioner and RPO DG Khan, deputy commissioner and DPO DG Khan joined the meeting through video link.
