Rs 1.6 mln fined on big retailers for price violation

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) In a major move to curb artificial inflation, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Multan, Nauman Siddique, launched a massive crackdown on major commercial stores and shopping malls across the city on Sunday.

During a series of surprise inspections, the Deputy Commissioner personally visited various markets and shopping centers to monitor the implementation of the official government rate list. Expressing his displeasure over blatant overcharging and the absence of price displays, the DC imposed collective fines amounting to Rs 1.6 million on high-profile retailers.

According to the official details, retail giants Chase Up, Metro Store, and Imtiaz Super Store were fined oRs 500,000 each for violating price regulations.

Additionally, Latif Super Store was fined Rs. 150,000 for similar infractions.

Speaking to the media during the field operation, DC Nauman Siddique issued a stern ultimatum to all retailers to ensure the functionality of "Sasta DC Counters" and the prominent display of official price lists. He warned that the district administration is tightening the noose around major profiteers and hoarders who exploit the public.

"We will not allow anyone to rob the pockets of the common man, especially as we approach Ramazan," the Deputy Commissioner asserted. He further directed the price control magistrates to maintain a constant presence in the field to ensure that essential commodities are available at government-mandated rates.
