HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division, Shahmeer Khan Bhutto, chaired a high-level meeting, to review security, law and order, traffic management, sanitation, electricity, water supply, and other arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram across the division. The meeting was held at Darbar Hall of DC Office, Shaheed Benazirabad Thursday. During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted of Muharram processions and gatherings, security plans, emergency response measures, and the provision of public facilities. Addressing the participants, Commissioner said that Muharram-ul-Haram teaches patience and tolerance. He urged religious scholars and leaders of religious organizations to fully cooperate with district administration and police in maintaining peace and harmony throughout the division. Commissioner directed officials of the Local Government Department and Municipal Corporations to ensure cleanliness along procession routes, proper drainage, restoration of streetlights, and the availability of clean drinking water. He also instructed officials of HESCO and SEPCO to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply from Maghrib until late night from the 1st of Muharram until Ashura to facilitate mourners.
He further directed rescue, health, and other emergency service departments to establish medical camps along procession routes and at religious gatherings, particularly considering the prevailing hot weather conditions. Arrangements for ORS and other heat-relief measures for mourners were also emphasized. Commissioner instructed all concerned departments to perform their duties with dedication and vigilance to maintain law and order and provide best possible facilities to mourners during Muharram.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Speaking on the occasion, DIG Police Faisal Bashir Memon said that all necessary measures had been taken to promote religious harmony, brotherhood, and compliance with the code of conduct during Muharram-ul-Haram. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals attempting to disturb peace or share hate material on social media. DIG informed meeting that a dedicated monitoring cell had been established, with the support of law enforcement agencies, to monitor social media activities. He added that comprehensive and stringent security arrangements would remain in place throughout Muharram. The meeting was attended by all Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, officers of relevant departments, representatives of local government institutions, and other concerned officials, who briefed the participants on the arrangements made for Muharram-ul-Haram.
Religious scholars and leaders of religious organizations from Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, and Naushahro Feroze also participated the meeting, presented their concerns, and assured full cooperation in maintaining peace and order during Muharram.
Among those present were Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Abdul Samad Nizamani, Deputy Commissioner Naushahro Feroze Muhammad Arsalan Saleem, Deputy Commissioner Sanghar Sarah Javed, SSP Shaheed Benazirabad Sameer Noor Channa, SSP Naushahro Feroze Mir Rohal Khoso, SSP Sanghar Shahnawaz Chachar, Additional Commissioner-II Syed Ammar Hussain, representatives of HESCO, SEPCO, Rangers, Local Government, Public Health, Rescue Services, and religious organizations from all three districts.
