Punjab Police, UNODC agree to enhance cooperation against financial crime

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Criminal Justice and Legal Reforms of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Advisor Arslan Malik met Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem on Monday, where both sides agreed to further enhance mutual cooperation for the elimination of financial crime and other transnational offences.

During the meeting, matters relating to inter-provincial coordination and formulation of a unified national strategy against financial crime were discussed. DIG Training Munir Ahmad Zia Rao was also present.

According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, the IGP briefed the UNODC delegation on ongoing initiatives of Punjab Police aimed at combating financial crime.

Both sides agreed to promote cooperation in various sectors and discussed evolving a coordinated national strategy through inter-provincial collaboration for the prevention of financial crime.

The meeting also emphasised the need for a joint and effective mechanism to counter cybercrime, terrorism, money laundering, illegal human trafficking and drug smuggling.

The spokesperson said the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime would organise consultative workshops and seminars across Pakistan to support and promote financial crime prevention strategies.
