Punjab govt to ensure highest cleanliness standards during Eid: Minister Zeeshan

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Punjab Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique Monday said the Punjab government would ensure the highest standards of cleanliness across cities and villages during Eid-ul-Azha in line with the special directives of Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.

During his visit to Faisalabad, the provincial minister held a meeting with Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen and reviewed Eid cleanliness arrangements in the division. Officers from other districts of Faisalabad Division also participated in the meeting through video link.

The minister said that “Suthra Punjab” teams would remain active in streets and neighborhoods for prompt collection of sacrificial animal waste and offal during Eid days. He said that the teams would use megaphones to create awareness among citizens and ensure timely removal of waste from residential areas. He directed the authorities to accelerate distribution of door-to-door waste bags among citizens to facilitate proper disposal of sacrificial waste.

He said that collective sacrifice points, roads and streets would be washed with lime, phenyl and rose water to maintain hygiene and improve the environment.

Zeeshan Rafique said the government would deliver services beyond the expectations of both citizens and the chief minister. He directed local government officials to remain fully active in the field and ensure strict monitoring of cleanliness operations. He also instructed that permanent “Suthra Punjab” teams should be deployed in railway areas and along railway tracks to maintain cleanliness in sensitive and densely populated locations.

The minister further directed authorities in rural areas to divide union council jurisdictions among secretaries and ensure their presence in the field for effective supervision of Eid sanitation arrangements.

Later, Zeeshan Rafique visited historic Clock Tower Faisalabad and adjoining markets where he distributed environment-friendly waste bags among shopkeepers and citizens.

He appealed to the public to cooperate with sanitation workers during Eid-ul-Azha to help maintain cleanliness in the city.

Talking to media, the provincial minister said that all arrangements under the Eid cleanliness plan had been finalized across Faisalabad Division and practical measures were being taken to provide quality sanitation services in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Commissioner Musarrat assured the minister that all possible steps would be taken in line with government directions to ensure effective implementation of the Eid cleanliness plan. She said that control rooms had been activated in all four districts of Faisalabad division to monitor sanitation operations round the clock. Special cleanliness operations would begin during night hours before Eid so that public places, roads and markets could remain clean and hygienic throughout the festival days, she added.
