KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz has imposed a ban under Section 144 Cr.P.C. on activities that could trigger forest fires in Kohat district amid rising temperatures and dry weather conditions.

According to an official notification, the decision was taken following recommendations from the Divisional Forest Officer, who warned of an increased risk of wildfires due to dry vegetation, extreme heat, and human negligence. Authorities said forest fires pose a serious threat to natural resources, wildlife habitats, nearby communities, and public property.

Under the order, activities including fireworks, campfires, burning of grass or bushes, throwing lit cigarette butts or matchsticks, cooking during picnics in forest areas, and any other acts likely to ignite dry undergrowth have been prohibited.

The restrictions will remain effective for a period of three months from the date of issuance.

The Deputy Commissioner warned that violators would face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Copies of the order have been circulated to relevant departments, police authorities, and municipal officials to ensure strict implementation, particularly ahead of Eid-ul-Azha when recreational visits and public gatherings in forest areas are expected to increase.
