Punjab govt finalises arrangements for Urs of Baba Fariduddin (RA)

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Punjab Auqaf Secretary Dr Ehsan Bhutta on Monday said the Punjab government was committed to providing exemplary facilities and foolproof security arrangements for devotees attending the 784th annual Urs of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masud Ganj Shakar (RA).

Presiding over a meeting in Pakpattan to review administrative, security and public facilitation arrangements for the Urs celebrations, he said the Auqaf Department, in coordination with the district administration and law enforcement agencies, would ensure comprehensive facilities for pilgrims, including medical camps, clean drinking water and strict security measures.

Deputy Commissioner Asif Raza, District Police Officer Javed Iqbal Chadhar and senior officials of the Auqaf Department, district administration, law enforcement agencies and other departments attended the meeting.

Dr. Ehsan thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman for their support in improving shrine infrastructure and ensuring effective arrangements for the Urs.

Deputy Commissioner Asif Raza said emergency response plans, medical arrangements and crowd-management protocols had been finalised to facilitate devotees in a peaceful and organised environment.

District Police Officer Javed Iqbal Chadhar briefed the meeting on security and traffic arrangements, saying strict monitoring would be ensured to maintain law and order during the Urs. He added that traffic routes and perimeter security had been carefully planned to facilitate the smooth movement of visitors.

Later, Dr Ehsan Bhutta inspected entry and exit routes for devotees and reviewed security barriers, queue-management systems and other public safety measures.

During the visit, the Sajjada Nasheen of the shrine, Dewaan Ahmed Masood Chishti, met the secretary Auqaf and appreciated the Punjab government’s efforts for the restoration and development of the shrine complex.
