Police launch grand search operations across district, two Afghan national held

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) Police have intensified security measures across the district on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, launching grand search operations and special snap checking in multiple areas ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Heavy contingents of police and other law enforcement agencies are participating in the operations, while SSP Operations and senior police officers are personally supervising the security activities.

The search operations are being conducted in Pirwadhai, City, Ganjmandi, Waris Khan, New Town, Sadiqabad, Chakri, Kallar Syedan, Kahuta, Gujar Khan, Dhamiyal, Mandra, Rawat, Wah Cantt, Morgah, Race Course, RA Bazaar, Naseerabad, Airport, Taxila, Westridge, Saddar Wah, Civil Lines, Chaklala and Cantt areas.

Special pickets have also been established at the city’s entry and exit points for snap checking, while joint checkpoints with other law enforcement agencies are carrying out continuous inspections.

According to the police spokesperson, two proclaimed offenders wanted in different cases and two Afghan nationals have so far been arrested during the ongoing search operations.

Police teams are conducting strict checking at bus terminals, houses, hostels, hotels, inns, markets, shops and other public places as part of the crackdown against criminal and anti-social elements.

More than 3,700 officers and personnel of Rawalpindi Police have been deployed to perform security and traffic duties during Eid-ul-Azha.

The spokesperson said Rawalpindi Police are utilizing all available resources to protect the lives and property of citizens and remain fully committed to maintaining peace and order during the festive occasion.
