home.
A prominent psychiatrist Dr Uzma Masroor while exclusive speaking on this day said that modern lifestyles and constant digital distractions are weakening parent–child relationships and emphasized that families must consciously reduce screen time to restore emotional connection, communication and trust at home.
She further cautioned that prolonged screen exposure is disrupting sleep patterns, lowering emotional resilience and creating a cycle of mental exhaustion in parents, adding that families must consciously limit device use and prioritize shared time, conversation and emotional presence to restore balance at home.
She explained that the Primary theme for the UN’s International day of Families (observed on May 15, 2026) focuses on “Supporting Family Well-Being and Development,” with special emphasis on sustainable living practices, including the role of families in addressing climate change and environmental protection.
