FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) The National Textile University Faisalabad (NTUF), in collaboration with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has laid foundation stone of Pakistan-Korea Technical Textile Centre (PKTC) for paving the way for innovation in high-value textiles in Pakistan.
The foundation ceremony was held at university's Department of Textile Engineering. NTUF Rector/Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rashid Masood chaired the event while KOICA Country Director Ji Ho Yun attended it as guest of honor.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rashid Masood said that the textile industry is backbone of Pakistan's economy, contributing over 50 per cent to the country's total exports.
However, growing global competition in conventional fabrics is compelling Pakistan to move toward high-value industrial textiles to maintain competitiveness in the international market, he added.
KOICA Country Director Ji Ho Yun said that this project is being provided under South Korea's Official Development Assistance (ODA).

NTUF Rector also appreciated the services of Dean CET, Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, and the project coordinator, Dr. Muhammad Qamar Khan.
