QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) Balochistan Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran on Thursday said that providing clean water to the public is the top priority of the government and directed that in this regard, all projects should be completed on time.

He said this while chairing a meeting of the Public Health Engineering Department here. The meeting was attended by Secretary PHE Hashim Ghilzai, Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers and other senior officers.

During the meeting, Secretary PHE gave a detailed briefing on departmental affairs, ongoing development projects, physical and financial progress, while a comprehensive review of the department’s overall performance, administrative matters, expenditure on development projects and the status of revenue collection was also taken.

On this occasion, special consideration was given to the attendance, discipline and performance of officers.

Balochistan Minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran directed to accelerate the pace of ongoing development projects.

He said that providing clean water to the public is the top priority of the government and in this regard, all projects should be completed on time.

He also issued instructions to ensure water tax collection at all costs, emphasizing on making financial discipline and transparency more effective.

The meeting also decided that departmental ownership of all old and new tube wells would be taken while surprise visits could be made to all districts of the Public Health Engineering Department to further improve its performance.

The Minister congratulated the Secretary PHE and all the officers for achieving the number one position and said that this success is the result of teamwork, however, maintaining this position in the future is the real challenge.

He said that the negative perception regarding PHE has been eliminated through better performance and the department is working with the spirit of public service.

Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran clarified that we are all a team and the disgrace of any one is the discredit of all of us.

He directed the officers to be present at their stations at all times, disciplinary action would be taken in case of absence.

The Minister noted that water is a charity and timely supply of clean water to the public should be ensured at all times.

At the end of the meeting, certificates of appreciation were also distributed among the officers who showed excellent performance.
