MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore on Tuesday reaffirmed the government’s resolve to ensure foolproof security and maintain peace across the region during the sanctified month of Muharram-ul-Haram, directing all concerned institutions to remain fully alert and mobilized.

In a special message issued ahead of Muharram, the Prime Minister emphasized that the holy month, commencing from June 17, carries lessons of sacrifice, patience, tolerance, and selflessness, and stressed that maintaining inter-sect harmony under all circumstances is essential for sustaining peace and stability in society.

He directed law enforcement agencies, including police and district administrations, to implement comprehensive security arrangements and remain on high alert throughout Muharram. The Prime Minister further instructed all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to remain present in the field to personally monitor arrangements and ensure effective coordination with Imambargah and Hussainia hall management committees.

Faisal Mumtaz Rathore also ordered the provision of all basic facilities along procession routes, particularly clean drinking water and medical support in view of prevailing weather conditions. Reiterating the government’s commitment, he said the protection of lives and property of mourners of Imam Hussain (AS) is the top priority of the state, adding that all departments must work in close coordination under a unified strategy to ensure peace and order during the holy month. He also urged religious scholars to play a proactive role in promoting unity, brotherhood, and religious harmony across Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
