PPP Mirza Baig terms Budget 2026–27 as "satisfactory” with broad relief measures

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jun, 2026) Representing PPP in the National Assembly, Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig stated on Friday that the Budget 2026–27 reflects the government and its allies’ efforts to provide maximum relief to the public, particularly through tax relief for traders and salaried groups, along with a reduction in GST on solar products.

While speaking in an exclusive interaction with ptv news in the National Assembly ahead of the Budget 2026–27, Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig said the government and its allied parties have made sincere efforts to prepare a people-friendly and balanced budget.

He termed the budget as “satisfactory” and said it carries “good news” for different segments of society, including minimum wage earners, pensioners, the salaried class and traders.

He added that due consideration has been given to the concerns of the common people, with relief measures incorporated to ease financial pressure on households and support economic stability.

The PPP lawmaker noted that tax relief for salaried individuals and traders reflects a broader effort to reduce the burden on productive segments of the economy.

He further said that, overall, Budget 2026–27 appears satisfactory, as it prioritises public welfare and aims to provide meaningful relief to the masses.
