The party's media cell says the PPP has not taken any decision to boycott the budget session
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June 12nd, 2026) Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has denied reports of boycotting the National Assembly's budget session, reaffirming its participation in the budget process in the national interest.
The party's media cell said that the PPP has not taken any decision to boycott the budget session. It confirmed that several party lawmakers would attend the proceedings, although PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would not be present during the session.
The media cell stated that the party would remain part of the budget process and continue to play its parliamentary role in matters related to the federal budget.
PPP Central Secretary Information Nadeem Afzal Chan also rejected reports suggesting that the party had decided to boycott the budget session, terming such claims incorrect.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar visited Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's chamber at Parliament House. Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar accompanied him during the meeting.
The meeting came amid ongoing consultations between coalition partners over budget-related matters and other political issues. However, no official statement was issued regarding the agenda or outcome of the discussion.
The developments followed speculation about the PPP's participation in the budget proceedings, which the party leadership has now categorically dismissed.
PPP remains a key coalition partner in the federal government, and its participation in parliamentary proceedings is considered important for the passage of budget-related legislation and other government business in the National Assembly.
