Police arrest suspects for killing Councillor

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) The police have arrested two men suspected of involvement in the killing of a local councillor in the district, the official sources said on Monday.

The suspects, identified as Noorullah, 49, and Hakeemullah, 24, were detained during a targeted operation in the Chambai area following the murder of Councillor, Matyar Khan, the police said.

The killing had raised concerns among local residents, prompting authorities to intensify efforts to track down the responsible.

The police said an investigation was ongoing to establish the motive and identify any additional suspects linked to the case. The suspects had been transferred to a local police station for investigation, they added.

The police said they remain committed to ensuring public safety and bringing all the involved in the crime to justice.
