PA speaker, US Consul General discuss ties, parliamentary cooperation in Lahore

U.S. Consul General Stetson Sanders appreciates Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace in region and said that U.S seeks to further strengthen diplomatic relations and parliamentary cooperation with Pakistan

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-May 15th, 2026) Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan met with U.S. Consul General in Lahore Stetson Sanders at the Speaker’s Chamber. Minister of State Malik Rashid Ahmad Khan was also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on Pakistan-U.S. relations, regional peace, trade, education, climate change, food security, and other matters of mutual interest.

On this occasion, Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan stated that Pakistan and the United States enjoy relations based on mutual trust and a strong partnership. He said he was keen to further strengthen ties between Punjab and the U.S. state of California. He also noted that the Pakistani-American community is playing an effective bridge-building role between the two countries.

The Speaker said that exchanges of parliamentary delegations would further enhance bilateral relations and mutual cooperation.

He also briefed the U.S. Consul General on the legislative work of the Punjab Assembly, the effective functioning of its Standing Committees, and parliamentary procedures.
