SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) Formal and non-formal literacy centers were inaugurated at District Jail Sialkot on Friday under the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to provide education and vocational training to inmates.
Member of Provincial Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary for Home Affairs Naveed Ashraf inaugurated along with District Education Officer (Literacy) Asifa Yaser, while Superintendent Jail Kashif Rasool was also present.
Speaking at the ceremony, Naveed Ashraf said the centers would provide prisoners with basic education and skill-based training to help them become productive members of society after their release.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He added that non-formal schooling and learning programmes would also be arranged according to the needs of inmates.
He said the Punjab government was giving special attention to the education and rehabilitation of prisoners, while the jail administration had pledged to further expand educational and vocational programmes for inmates.
