BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th May, 2026) Punjab Assembly (PA) Deputy Speaker Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar formally inaugurated the construction project of a 15-kilometer metalled road aimed at connecting rural communities with the city.
Addressing a large public gathering organized on the occasion, he said that under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, development projects titled “A Progressive and Developing Punjab” are being accelerated across the province, while the provision of basic facilities to citizens remains the government’s top priority. He stated that expanding the network of roads connecting villages with urban centers is an important part of the Punjab government’s policy, as it will facilitate transportation, education, healthcare access and commercial activities for residents of remote areas.
The Deputy Speaker informed the gathering that the total cost of the 15-kilometer road construction and development project is estimated at Rs1.157 billion. He explained that the road will connect Tibba Badr Sher to Basti Hameedpur via Jhok Malik Natho, Jhok Naiyan, Basti Daiyan and several adjoining settlements, bringing significant relief to thousands of local residents and substantially reducing travel time.

Prominent local figures and residents appreciated the efforts of Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar and Deputy Speaker Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar for securing approval of the project, allocation of funds and commencement of construction work. They described the road as a long-standing need of the area and welcomed the initiative as a major step toward regional development.
Residents also expressed hope that the momentum of development projects would continue in the future, enabling the area to progress further and improving the quality of life for local communities.
