MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Newly-Appointed Vice Chancellor of Women University Multan (WUM) Prof. Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool chaired a review meeting with the heads of non-teaching and administrative departments to discuss the university’s academic progress, institutional development, governance, and future roadmap here on Friday.

During the meeting, Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) Dr Sara Musadiq briefed comprehensively on the university’s academic and administrative profile. The briefing highlighted details regarding faculty strength, student enrollment, research projects, scholarships, quality assurance initiatives, academic development programs, and ongoing institutional projects.

The VC took keen interest in the university’s operational and academic affairs and sought detailed information regarding scholarship opportunities, performance of various committees, affiliations with colleges, university rankings, research productivity, and external collaborations under different Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

She stressed the need to expand affiliations with more colleges, particularly girls’ colleges, after rigorous assessment and evaluation in order to strengthen academic outreach and create broader educational opportunities for female students across the region. She also directed the administration to further enhance external linkages and critically evaluate the practical outcomes and institutional benefits being achieved through existing MoUs and collaborations.

Addressing student welfare and infrastructure needs, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the increasing demand for girls’ hostel accommodation within the university.

She termed it a top priority to ensure a secure, safe, and conducive living environment for female students. She further emphasized that the matter of establishing an additional girls’ hostel will be pursued on an urgent and priority basis, and all necessary steps will be taken to facilitate its early initiation and completion.

Emphasizing the importance of research culture and innovation, the Vice Chancellor stated that the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) must be strengthened to promote high-quality research activities and academic excellence. She expressed her vision to establish a dedicated Research and Development Center at the university that would serve as a platform for faculty training, professional development, innovation, and advanced academic research.

Prof. Dr. Batool further directed that a comprehensive policy framework should be drafted to further polish and strengthen the academic and institutional culture of the university. She observed that faculty members should not only focus on classroom teaching but also actively contribute towards impactful research, publications, and scholarly activities.

The meeting was attended by the Registrar, Treasurer, Controller of Examinations, Project Director, System Administrator, and other senior administrative officers, who discussed various matters related to institutional growth, governance, and future planning.
