PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday pledged full federal support to strengthen counterterrorism capabilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a visit to the provincial police headquarters here, where he met families of police personnel martyred in recent attacks in Bannu.
The interior minister held separate meetings with relatives of 15 fallen policemen and paid tribute to their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
He offered condolences to the bereaved families and said the courage of the martyred officers and their families had reinforced the country’s resolve against militant violence.
“The sacrifices rendered by KP Police will not go in vain,” Naqvi said, adding that the federal government would continue extending all possible assistance to frontline security institutions battling militancy in the province.
During the visit, senior police officials briefed the minister on the operational situation and ongoing counterterrorism measures being undertaken by the Counter Terrorism Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Officials informed him about recent intelligence-based operations and efforts to improve coordination among federal and provincial law enforcement agencies.
Naqvi praised the role of the CTD and KP Police in carrying out operations against militants and stressed the need for greater institutional coordination, modern policing tools and enhanced intelligence-sharing mechanisms to address emerging security threats.
The minister also visited the KP Safe City Project, where he reviewed the Integrated Command and Control Centre and inspected the digital surveillance and monitoring system established under the project.
Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Zulfiqar Hameed briefed the minister on security initiatives, operational preparedness and progress on the Safe City Project, while senior CTD officials shared details of ongoing reforms aimed at modernising the force.
Senior civil and security officials, including the chief secretary, IG FC North and IG Federal Constabulary, were also present during the visit.
