MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th May, 2026) Multan’s major sewerage and drainage projects under the Punjab Development Program (PDP)
Phase-I Critical Component have achieved 53 percent completion, with work continuing at multiple
sites across the city.
During a visit to various project sites on Sunday, Divisional Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan
reviewed the pace and quality of the ongoing schemes, being completed under CM Maryam
Nawaz vision. WASA Deputy Managing
Director Zeeshan Shaukat Gondal briefed him that the Rs25.8 billion development package includes
replacement of old sewerage infrastructure and upgradation of disposal stations in different parts
of Multan by June 30, 2026.
Officials said work is underway on 21 kilometres of worn-out sewerage lines under the critical
component of the project. Key schemes include installation of a 24-inch sewerage line on Nishtar
Road, a new line from Dera Adda Chowk to Pul Shawala Chowk, replacement of old pipelines in
Officers Colony, and laying of a 42-inch sewerage line on Multan Avenue.

Suraj Kund have been completed, while disposal station construction and upgradation works are
progressing in Jahangirabad, Old Shujaabad Road, Sameejaabad, Vehari Road, Zakariya Town
and other areas.
The commissioner also inspected the Jahangirabad Disposal Station project and directed contractors
to further speed up work while maintaining construction standards. He instructed officials to continue
day-and-night operations to effectively address urban flooding issues during the upcoming monsoon
season.
WASA authorities said all available resources are being utilized to ensure timely completion of the
projects, adding that strict safety protocols are being enforced at all working sites.
