Court adjourns trial against Pervez Elahi till Sept 15

A Special Court (Central) on Wednesday adjourned until September 15 the hearing of the money laundering case against former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2026) A Special Court (Central) on Wednesday adjourned until September 15 the hearing of the money laundering case against former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.

The court also allowed his application seeking one-time exemption from personal appearance on medical grounds and sought further arguments on his acquittal plea at the next hearing.

Special Court (Central) Judge Ashfaq Ahmed heard the case registered by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against Pervez Elahi, members of his family and other accused over alleged money laundering and suspicious banking transactions.

Pervez Elahi did not appear before the court due to illness. His counsel filed an application seeking exemption from personal appearance for one hearing, which the court accepted while directing him to appear on the next date of hearing.

During the proceedings, the prosecution opposed Pervez Elahi's acquittal application and urged the court to dismiss it. The court directed both sides to advance further arguments on the plea at the next hearing.

According to the FIA, the case pertains to alleged suspicious banking transactions involving companies owned by the Pervez Elahi family. The agency alleges that funds suspected to be proceeds of corruption were deposited into the companies' accounts. Moonis Elahi has been declared a proclaimed offender in the case, while the trial against the remaining accused is continuing.
