Five Injured as terrorists attack Bannu police station: DPO

BANNU, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jul, 2026) At least five people, including a police official, were injured when terrorists attacked the Miryan Police Station in Bannu district on Wednesday night, police said.

The attack has triggered a fierce exchange of gunfire between police and terrorists, police said.

District Police Officer Bannu Captain (retd) Muhammad Furqan Bilal confirmed the incident and casualties to reporters. The administration of the local hospital verified that five injured individuals had been brought in for treatment.

According to police, the attackers attempted to ram an explosives-laden vehicle into the Miryan Police Station, causing a powerful explosion that damaged parts of the police facility and nearby residential buildings.

The blast was heard over a considerable distance, causing panic among residents.

Following the explosion, security personnel stationed at the police station responded immediately, engaging the attackers in a prolonged exchange of fire.

Additional police contingents were dispatched to the area, while security measures were further strengthened to prevent any further threat.

Police said members of the police peace committee also reached the site to assist authorities in managing the situation.

The injured, including a police official, were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment. Authorities have not yet released further details about the identities of the injured or the fate of the attackers.

Security forces launched a search operation in and around the area, while investigations into the attack are underway. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the assault.
