ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that welfare initiatives like mass marriage ceremonies are a ray of hope for the underprivileged segments of society, and he will ensure that no deserving girl remains deprived of marriage. He announced that after Eid-ul-Adha, the registration process for another large-scale collective marriage programme will be completed, while a target of 500 mass marriages has been set for the next phase.
He expressed these views while addressing a grand mass marriage ceremony held in Attock, where 120 deserving girls were married off. Governor Punjab appreciated the chief organizer of the event, Malik Kamran Khaki, for successfully arranging the ceremony. He said that earlier 35 marriages had been arranged, and later a target of 100 marriages before Eid-ul-Adha was announced, but today by arranging 120 marriages, a new example has been set.
The Governor said that he considers all these girls as his own daughters and shares equally in their happiness and sorrows. He added that philanthropists actively participated in this noble cause and contributed millions of rupees. He also specially mentioned his son for supporting him in the arrangements, including the salami distribution and other organisational matters.
Sardar Saleem Haider Khan remarked that although his pockets may still be empty, his heart is full of the spirit of public service. He said he would continue striving to resolve people’s problems wherever he is. He added that his team worked day and night to make the collective marriage programme successful, and in the next phase, team members would each bear the expenses of ten marriages.

The Governor Punjab said that although inflation cannot be eliminated completely, he will continue playing his role in reducing public hardships. He informed that dialysis and thalassemia centres have already been established in Attock where patients are not charged even a single penny. He also announced that a modern mother and child healthcare centre would be established in Tehsil Jand, while water filtration plants would also be installed in different areas to provide clean drinking water.
He further stated that electric bus services have already been launched from Hasan Abdal and Fateh Jang to provide modern and affordable transport facilities to the public. Governor Punjab said that his office is a trust of the people and he will continue fulfilling this responsibility with honesty and dedication.
