Madrasa Cricket Tournament starts

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) For the first time in the history of Bahawalpur, a cricket tournament for madrasa students was organised at Dring Stadium Bahawalpur here.

Students from 10 madrasas participated in the tournament, and four teams were formed by combining students from these seminaries. The Divisional Sports Department stated that the purpose of the event was not only to promote sports among madrasa students but also to enhance their physical and mental abilities.

Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza specially attended the opening ceremony and formally inaugurated the tournament. Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr Ayesha Khan, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur City Iqra Mubeen, Divisional Sports Officer Amir Hameed, District Sports Officer Fawad Ahmad, students and teachers of madrasas, members of the District Peace Committee, religious scholars, and a large number of citizens were also present.

Addressing the opening ceremony, the DC said encouraging students of madrasas toward healthy and positive activities is a need of the hour. He stated that sports develop positive qualities among youth such as tolerance, discipline, unity, brotherhood, and teamwork, which play an important role in building a civilized and balanced society.
