KP election commission intensifies efforts to bridge gender gap in voter lists

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) The Election Commission of Pakistan is making concerted efforts to eliminate the gender gap in electoral rolls and increase women’s participation in the democratic process, Provincial Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saeed Gul said on Thursday.

He expressed these views during a visit of a delegation from civil society organisation Da Hawa Lor to the office of the Provincial Election Commissioner in Peshawar.

The delegation comprised 15 women members who attended an awareness and orientation session aimed at promoting voter education and community outreach.

Chief Executive Officer of Da Hawa Lor Khurshid Bano, Program Director Shawana Shah, Joint Provincial Election Commissioner Muhammad Fareed Afridi, Director Elections Muhammad Nadeem Khan and Legal Team Leader Mehwish Sana were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the participants, Saeed Gul urged the women community leaders to spread awareness in their respective areas after completing the training session so that the message of the Election Commission could reach maximum households across the province.

He said women’s inclusion in the electoral process was essential for strengthening democracy and ensuring equal political representation.

The office of the Provincial Election Commissioner arranged a detailed briefing and training session for the delegation, which was conducted by Deputy Director Training Zaheer Ahmed Soomro and other officials.
