ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jun, 2026) Deputy Chairman of the Senate Syedaal Khan on Thursday reiterated Pakistan’s support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people, stressing that the Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of local representatives from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, comprising Javed Rathore, Sardar Zulfiqar, Sardar Mumtaz Khan and Shafeeq Ahmed Butt.
The delegation briefed the deputy chairman on public issues, development requirements and matters related to the welfare of the people of Azad Kashmir.
Describing Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein”, Syedaal Khan said all political parties in the country were united on the issue and firmly supported the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
He said Pakistan had consistently highlighted human rights violations and restrictions on fundamental freedoms in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir at international forums and would continue to extend political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people.
The Deputy chairman also underscored the need to improve the health, education and forestry sectors in Azad Kashmir, saying progress in these areas was vital for the region’s sustainable development and prosperity.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He assured the delegation that efforts would be made, in coordination with relevant institutions and elected representatives, to promote development, improve public welfare and ensure the provision of basic facilities in the region.
Syedaal Khan said the Primary purpose of politics was public service and addressing people’s problems, adding that elected representatives must work to meet public expectations and accelerate the pace of development.
Referring to regional and international developments, he said Pakistan had consistently advocated peace, stability and dialogue.
Welcoming the ongoing diplomatic progress between Iran and the United States, he said Pakistan had played a constructive role in reducing tensions and promoting peace in the region.
He added that the international community had acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts and reiterated that dialogue remained the only sustainable path towards resolving conflicts and disputes.
The deputy chairman said Pakistan’s political and defence leadership were working together to safeguard national interests while promoting regional peace and stability. He expressed hope that the Kashmir dispute would be resolved peacefully in the near future.
Members of the delegation appreciated Syedaal Khan’s stance on the Kashmir issue and his commitment to the development and welfare of the people of Azad Kashmir.
