ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) The Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA), in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), concluded a five-day inter-regional workshop on “Denial of Shipment (DoS) of Radioactive Material” held at PNRA Headquarters.
The workshop brought together National Focal Points and experts from over 16 countries focusing on regulatory challenges, risk perception, and the need for improved coordination and information sharing.
“Pakistan remains committed to maintain the highest safety and security standards in the transport of radioactive material and considers that the supplies of radioactive material is critical for ensuring uninterrupted medical diagnosis and treatment,” emphasized Mr.

While speaking at the closing ceremony, IAEA representative Ms. Shazia Fayyaz highlighted that despite an established regulatory framework, shipment challenges persist, underscoring the importance of practical, coordinated international solutions.
The five-day workshop concluded with the commitment from participating countries to strengthen cooperation and adopt measures to overcome the shipment denial issues.
