Haripur Wildlife Division marks World Biodiversity Day with awareness seminars, walks

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) The Haripur Wildlife Division celebrated World Biodiversity Day on Friday under the theme “Acting Locally for Global Impact” by organizing awareness seminars at educational institutions in Haripur and Khanpur.

Two separate seminars were held at University of Haripur and Khanpur College of Technology to highlight the importance of biodiversity conservation and environmental protection.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Wildlife Haripur Division, Hafiz Ameer Muhammad Khan, attended the seminar at the University of Haripur as guest speaker, while Muhammad Abu Bakar addressed participants at Khanpur College of Technology.

During the seminars, guest speakers and faculty members discussed the importance of biodiversity and the growing threats to wildlife and natural ecosystems. They stressed that biodiversity plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance and supporting economic development.

The speakers also emphasized that collective local efforts can contribute significantly towards global environmental protection and nature conservation.

Awareness walks were also organized at the conclusion of both seminars to educate students about the significance of biodiversity conservation and the objectives of World Biodiversity Day.
