Hanif Abbasi condemns Quetta train blast,orders immediate report

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) An explosion near Chaman Phatak in Quetta derailed multiple coaches of a shuttle train on Sunday,prompting rescue and relief operations in the area.

According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways, the shuttle train coming from Quetta Cantt came under the impact of the blast near Chaman Phatak.

Three coaches, including the engine, derailed while two coaches overturned as a result of the explosion.

Security forces cordoned off the area immediately after the incident and launched a rescue operation.

Railway authorities also dispatched a rescue truck and a relief train to assist in recovery activities.

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi strongly condemned the attack,terming it an act of “cowardly terrorism”.

The minister alleged that anti-Pakistan elements based in India and Afghanistan were involved in sponsoring terrorism, adding that such attacks would not succeed in destabilizing the country.

He said the incident could not weaken the nation’s resolve and vowed that terrorists would be dealt with firmly.

He also directed the railway administration to submit an immediate report on the blast and its consequences.

Abbasi further stated that railway operations across the country would continue uninterrupted despite the incident.
